SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - The South Plainfield Summer Drama Workshop's production of "All Shook Up" shook up the weekend in South Plainfield as residents poured in to see the musical extravaganza.

The cast wowed the crowd with renditions of songs like "Blue Suede Shoes," "Heartbreak Hotel," "Love Me Tender," “Jailhouse Rock and other award-winning musical hits.

All Shook Up begins with Chad (Chris Fulton), storming into town where all musical enjoyments have been banned by Mayor Matilda Hyde (Sara Reineke).  Chad flashing his blue suede shoes, and playing his guitar turns the hearts of everyone in the small town upside down, particularly Natalie (Emily Reinke).  As Chad shakes up the town Natalie’s best-friend Dennis (Josh Rochotte) and father Jim (Jonathan Blanco) can’t seem to tell their feelings to the ones they love.  They along with Miss Sandra (Catherine Emery), Sylvia (Jasmin Santiago) and Sheriff Early (Michael Petritsch) appear to be life-long struggling to find love.

The show contained the forbidden interracial romance of Dean Hyde (Scott O’Brien) and Lorraine (Jade McDonough).

After a variety of twists, turns and disguises love flourishes.  The “Burning Love” of the characters shows sometime you “Can’t Help Falling in Love”.

South Plainfield’s Summer Drama Workshop, in its 43 season, once again shook up the summer with an award-winning performance.  The orchestra, ensemble and stage crew combined with the performers, made “All Shook Up” a South Plainfield summer classic which will always be remembered.
