SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The South Plainfield Borough Council awarded a $13,780 contract to Big Top Contractors Inc. to demolish the fire damaged home located at 3301 Clark Lane in South Plainfield.
The home was ravaged in a fire back in March of 2010. The house has remained in its damaged state for the past four years. The homeowner, and insurance company have been in a dispute over how the fire damaged home should be repaired.
A number of South Plainfield residents in the Clark Lane area have complained at Borough Council meetings to have the charred eyesore removed. The Borough of South Plainfield earlier this spring was able to get a court order allowing the Borough to knock the house down.
According to South Plainfield Administrator Glenn Cullen “the Borough will put a lien on the property for the cost of the cleanup.” South Plainfield Engineer Len Miller said “we are going to knock the house down and cleanup the property.”
Big Top Contractors Inc. is expected to initiate demolition of 3301 Clark Lane in the near future.
