SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The Christmas season can be especially rough for families after losing a loved one. To help with this, the South Plainfield Funeral Home hosted a “Night of Remembrance” on Tuesday for these families, with the night dedicated to celebrating the holiday and remembering at the same time.
“A lot of folks are grieving, said South Plainfield Funeral Home manager Mike Castoral when explaining why he holds the annual event. “It’s a way to include your loved one in the holiday season.”
According to Castoral, the night is part of the funeral home’s aftercare and a thank-you to the families.
As part of the evening, families decorated a Christmas tree with ornaments inscribed with their loved one’s name. It also included a wreath lighting, spiritual and Christmas songs by South Plainfield resident Linda Wilson, and prayers by Reverend Gina Kim of Wesley United Methodist Church in South Plainfield.
This is the seventh year the funeral home has hosted the event and the second year it’s been held at Wesley United Methodist Church. In addition to the South Plainfield Funeral Home, the night is hosted by the Piscataway Funeral Home and its manager Daniel Erickson, and the Middlesex Funeral Home and it manager Tami Sinagra.
