South Plainfield Eagles Jr. Pee-Wee Team Defeats Phillipsburg to Make Playoffs

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ- The South Plainfield Pop Warner Jr. Pee-Wee team defeated Phillipsburg by a score of 6-0 to solidify a playoff for the first time in 10 years. The game against Phillipsburg was scoreless at half. The winning touchdown was scored in the fourth quarter by Gus Brown. The defense held off a late Phillipsburg drive to seal the victory. The South Plainfield Junior Pee-Wee team finished the regular season with a 5-2 record.
South Plainfield Eagles Commissioner Kevin Dunn said, "I am extremely excited and would like to acknowledge the Junior Pee Wee coaches, led by head coach Willie Cheatham and assistants Abdul Abdullah, Mike Kurilew and Ulysses Russell. These gentlemen have dedicated countless hours to the development of their players. Most important are the players themselves who fought hard this season and accomplished their goals to date. South Plainfield is once again a threat to the opponents in the Jersey Valley Conference. It has been 10 years since the Eagles have been to the playoffs."

The Mitey Mite team concluded their season by defeating Phillipsburg, 19-12. It was a great effort by all to complete a successful season.
