SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ  – Vincent Buttiglieri, the Chairman of the South Plainfield Democratic Organization, announced today that former South Plainfield Councilwoman Chrissy Buteas has been selected by the Organization to run for mayor, and Joe Lambert and Joseph Sorrentino will run for council in this November’s election.

“Our Democratic ticket represents the best of South Plainfield,” said Chairman Buttiglieri.  “Chrissy, Joe and Joseph will put an end to the fiscal and government mismanagement in town, while ensuring that the voice of every single borough resident is heard.”

Raised in town, Buteas is the President and CEO of the Home Care Association of New Jersey, which provides aid to home-bound seniors across Middlesex County and the state.  She also serves as Vice-President of the New Jersey Women’s Political Caucus, whose goal it is to promote women in public service.  She served a term on the South Plainfield Borough Council, where she continuously represented the residents of the Borough.

“I am honored and humbled to receive the Democratic Party’s endorsement for Mayor in my hometown, said Buteas.   Public service is a passion of mine and I look forward to advocating on behalf of the residents of South Plainfield who are still struggling to dig out from under the Great Recession.”

“South Plainfield residents deserve a stake in the future of our borough. Sadly, one-party rule has led to mismanagement and tax hikes,” said Buteas.  “My running mates and I believe that it’s time for a new direction.”

Buteas will be joined on the ticket by Joe Lambert and Joseph Sorrentino.

Joe Lambert is a labor leader who currently serves as Business Agent/Executive Board Member for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 827.  He was a small business owner in the Borough for ten years and formerly served as Vice President and Captain of Arbor Hose Fire Co. #1.

“Serving the community and providing a safe and prosperous home for our families is my top priority,” said Lambert.  “I advocate for our middle-class families every day while, with my wife, raising three young girls. It’s because of these experiences that I can and will serve as the voice for South Plainfield’s working families.”

Joseph Sorrentino is a lifelong educator who has taught special education and has served as an Assistant Basketball Coach for the Special Olympics. He was an Assistant Football Coach for South Plainfield Pop Warner for many years and currently serves on the South Plainfield Board of Education and is pursuing his doctorate degree.

“Providing opportunities for South Plainfield’s young people is what I care about most,” said Sorrentino.  “Our children are our greatest asset.  You have my commitment to represent the interests of our children and their families.”

“Our ticket for this November’s election represents the very best of South Plainfield. Like all our residents, these public servants are dedicated to the future of the Borough and recognize the critical and necessary balance of keeping it affordable while also maintaining our great quality of life,” said Chairman Buttiglieri.
