SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – The hill was alive, with the sound of music. The Aisle Five Band was rocking the family crowd gathered on Flood’s Hill to kick off National Night Out on Tuesday evening. The rock and pop band was covering `70s, `80s and `90s classics while a good sized crowd danced, roamed the Public Safety Fair and sampled the cuisine.

Residents were able to learn more about the police and fire departments and the rescue squad, Neighborhood Watch, Citizens Public Safety Committee, Community Emergency Response Team (SO and SHU) and Domestic Violence Response Team at the fair. Kids enjoyed checking out the trucks and vehicles on display while parents picked up safety tips and more.

The massive Kids Zone had bouncy houses, afire truck maze, moon bounce, truck slide, triple-play sports cage and an inflatable jousting arena. Kids enjoyed organized activities with one of their favorite gym teachers, Jeff Kaeshaeffer.

A variety of trucks and local vendors did brisk business selling a wide variety of food and drinks.

The outdoor movie feature of the evening was "Despicable Me" with free popcorn and cotton candy.  All in all, the village’s fourth annual National Night Out was a rousing success.
