UPDATE: SOUTH ORANGE, NJ -- Three men have been arrested in connection with the robbery of four Seton Hall University students, according to South Orange Police Chief James Chelel.

They are charged with robbery, kidnapping and possession of a weapon. Bail was set at $300,000 for each suspect.

At 1 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 24, the suspects took the cell phones and wallets, according to police reports. In addition, assaulted two of the students.

Initially, the university's Pirate Alert system reported three students were robbed. Lt. Ret. Leon Kimble of the South Orange Police Department said four students were robbed in the incident.

In an email sent at 8:47 a.m. on Sunday, the university said the students were walking on Prospect Street near Irvington Avenue when three men got out of parked, dark-colored mini-van and forced them to walk to the rear of 45 Prospect St., where they took the students' belongings.

The men then drove off toward Maplewood.

The students flagged down a driver for Safe Ride, a service provided by the university, and the driver notified police. The injured student was later treated by the South Orange Rescue Squad.
