SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – Police have arrested three suspects in the robbery of a Seton Hall student this afternoon, according to university officials.
The victim was able to track his stolen cell phone, which aided in the apprehension of three males at 2:30 p.m., about 15 minutes after the mugging was reported.
The student told police he was walking near 429 Wilden Place when two males demanded his headphones. He resisted, and a woman passerby who tried to intervene was struck by one of the suspects. The student turned over his items, and the two fled in a car driven by a third male.
University officials reported no one was injured.
In a broadcast email, the university Department of Public Safety encouraged community members to install tracking software on electronic devices. Public Safety also reminded robbery victims to cooperate.
“The value of any property that you may lose in this type of crime is not worth your personal safety,” the email message read.
