MAPLEWOOD, NJ – Brian Osborne, superintendent of the South Orange-Maplewood School District, interviewed for the position of superintendent of Ann Arbor Public Schools on Monday, according to a report on AnnArbor.com.

Osborne is one of six candidates for the position.  The Ann Arbor Board of Education is expected to narrow the list down to two or three candidates and then take trips to visit the current districts of those candidates later this week.

In a live blog of the interview, which was open to the public, reporter Kellie Woodhouse reported that Osborne stated that he felt the optimal amount of time for one person to be in the job of superintendent is 10 years. Ann Arbor has had five in the last 10 years, and Osborne questioned the board about the feasibility of anyone lasting more than a couple years, considering the unpopular decisions that will have to be made in light of their budget shortfalls.

In the interview, Osborne called Ann Arbor a place where he would like to put down some roots.
