South Orange Department of Public Works to Hold Container Day Saturday

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - The next Container Day of the season is here. On Saturday, July 27, village residents may discard unwanted household items at the Department of Public Works Yard at 300 Walton Avenue.

Special disposal containers will be on site for item collection. Commercial vehicles will not be permitted. The hours of operation will be 8 AM to 2 PM.  Residents must bring two forms of identification.

The final two Container Days in 2013 will be August 24 and September 28.

From the township:

Permissible Disposals: Furniture or mattresses, appliances, branches under four inches in diameter, metal items, toys, small household items, tools, strollers, and playpens. Note: metals and appliances must be separated from other household items.

Non-Permissible Disposals: 
Paint cans (empty or not), propane bottles, any hazardous chemicals or their containers, construction materials, grass clippings, household garbage, car/truck parts, batteries of any size, stumps, root sections, branches measuring more than four inches in diameter, and railroad ties. DPW staff will prohibit other items as necessary.
