Sixth Straight Win for Caldwell College Cougar's Women's Basketball

CALDWELL, NJ - The Caldwell College Cougars Women’s Basketball Team continued their 6-game winning streak with a definitive 61-42 victory last night over the Dominican College Chargers. With this win, the Cougars move to within one game behind the Chargers for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division lead.
The Cougars opened the game with a huge lead, scoring the first 15 points. Emily Caswell, a sophomore forward from Wakefield, RI, studying Criminal Justice, and Jeanette Anderson each scored six points in the run. With 4:29 left in the first half, the Chargers came within 10 points, 31-21 Cougars.
But the Cougars closed out the half with a 43-23 halftime advantage. Torey Jones scored seven out of nine field goal attempts and gained 16 first-half points.
Five minutes into the second half, Caldwell still led by 21; the score was 51-30, Cougars. With 7:51 remaining, a three-pointer from Lindsey Lopez made the score 55-42, Caldwell.
The Cougars scored the game’s final six points; the Chargers were scoreless from that point on.

The game took place at the George R. Newman Center; the Cougars are now 10-11 overall and 8-4 in the conference. The Chargers drop to 12-7, 9-3 CACC.
On Saturday, the Cougars will host the University of the Sciences at 1pm in the Newman Center.
