Sign-Up Now for the 2013 Millburn-Short Hills CSA

SHORT HILLS, NJ - Sign-up has begun for the 2013 season of the Millburn-Short Hills CSA (community supported agriculture group). The Millburn-Short Hills CSA, now in its 6th year, will once again offer residents the opportunity to purchase local, seasonal produce directly from the farmer. Millburn-Short Hills CSA pick up is every Friday from June 14 thought November 22 in downtown Millburn. The CSA is organized by township resident Melissa Goldberg.
CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is a community of individuals who pledge support to a farm operation providing mutual support and sharing the risks and benefits of food production. Members pledge in advance to cover the anticipated costs of the farm and in return, they receive shares in the farm's bounty throughout the growing season. Members also share in the risks of farming, including poor harvests due to unfavorable weather or pests. A CSA helps farmer farmer with working capital in advance.
Members of the Millburn-Short Hills CSA will be once again be supporting Starbrite Farms in Andover, NJ, Breezy Hill Orchard in Staatsburg, New York and Knoll Krest Farm, Clinton Corners, NY.
Millburn-Short Hills CSA members can purchase vegetable and fruit shares and add on egg and pasta shares - each is priced differently. The deadline for a membership is April 26, 2013; share prices are $625 for vegetable, $322 for fruit, $115 for a dozen eggs per week and $115 for fresh homemade pasta each week. There will be opportunities throughout the season for members to purchase fresh bake goods, organic chicken and olive oil.
