SHORT HILLS, NJ – Local resident Saul Simon has written a book based on his years of experience as a Certified Financial Planner called, “Simon Says: Love Your Legacy.”  The book is “A Guide to Financial Education for You and Your Family,” and offers advice about the right way to leave your estate to your heirs and how to talk to your family about it beforehand.

“This is a book primarily for parents and grandparents,” Simon said.  “There really wasn’t another book in the marketplace about opening up a dialogue with your family about what you would like to see happen and what roles each of them will play when the inevitable happens.”

The subject is one that people often try to avoid.  Talking about the future in terms of the death of a parent or grandparent can be an uncomfortable subject.  This book explains how to create a meaningful dialogue about a sensitive subject.

“It’s about sharing wisdom across generations, and having your heirs understand where they came from and how family wealth is created and preserved,” Simon said.

He explained that it is written to be a useful tool outlining the steps one should take at every life stage.

“I don’t come from money,” Simon noted. “But I have been a Certified Financial Planner since 1988 and have seen time and again that this is an area where there is a gap in people’s knowledge.”  He sees this book as a way to “make a difference in people’s lives.”

He also expressed plans to expand on the concept with other books in the future, utilizing the “Simon Says” branding.

Simon will be doing some readings and book-signings in the fall at Barnes and Noble in Livingston and at Words Bookstore in Maplewood.  $1 from every book sale will be donated to the Henry Kessler Foundation.
