Around 2:30 p.m., rescue crews were called to the scene of 100 Parklane Drive in Eagleville for a shooting. If the address sounds familiar, that is because it is home to the Lower Providence Township Building, Eagleville Park and playground, as well as the Lower Providence Police Department and community library.

Officials at the scene have said that “it is the early stages” and they “have no comment at this time. The Montgomery County Coroner’s office, which sent two vehicles, have come and gone.

One large SUV can be seen in the lower lot of the township building, typically reserved for bus trip parking. Yellow caution tape is surrounding the lower lot. The SUV has been covered with a tarp. A stretcher was placed next to the SUV, and was not longer present as the coroner’s large white van departed.

A flatbed truck from DeWane’s Garage and Equipment Company Inc. arrived at the scene and is presently loading the SUV aboard its truck to remove it from the scene. Not a few hundred yards away, unsuspecting children continue to play on the playground, and the Lower Providence Community Library remains open. Officals at the scene are directing any incoming traffic to the Methacton Warrior football field’s lot, and all cheerleading and football practices have been cancelled through the night.

At this time, no arrests have been made. Eyewitnesses report that one is dead.

The scene is no longer an active police zone, and the press has been permitted to stay on site. No additional shots have been fired.

TAP Into Lower Providence will remain on the scene to gather more details as they are made available. Stay tuned to our site.
