CALDWELL, NJ - Rehearsals began Feb. 12 for seven Grover Cleveland Middle School students who were accepted into the North Jersey School Music Association (NJMSA) Junior High School Region I Chorus. Students face an arduous rehearsal schedule of four to seven hour practices while meeting on only five different days. The Region I Chorus will ultimately perform on Sunday, Mar. 3, at a 3pm Concert at Parsippany Hills High School.
Mr. Scott Chamberlain, Supervisor of Music for the Caldwell-West Caldwell School District, announced that on Feb. 2, the seven students auditioned with hundreds of performers from the seven northern NJ counties. Performers had to demonstrate a variety of vocal skills, including diatonic major scales and had to perform a memorized solo. Those with the highest scores were accepted into the regional group.
