Seton Hall Student Charged With Filing False Report of Robbery

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ -- [UPDATE] A Seton Hall University student was charged with filing a false report after telling police he was robbed on South Orange Avenue around 9 p.m. on Jan. 22.
Police said Keith Washington, 21, of Piscataway, was arrested Jan. 24 after detectives determined he lied.
Washington reported to police that he was approached from behind and an object was pressed to his head. He said he threw his cell phone and cash on the ground and then strugged with his attacker, according to police.
Police reported that Washington told them he was able to run to the Farinella Gate entrance to the university and report the incident.
