Celebrate the season with a look at five private, seldom seen gardens in Chatham and surrounding towns. The Secret Gardens of the Chatham Area is a benefit garden tour to be held on Thursday, June 7 from 10 am to 3 pm.

The tour includes a Chatham Borough garden with a gorgeous outdoor kitchen and living space and a Green Village home designed by the same landscape architect that did Bruce Springsteen’s and Jon Bon Govi’s garden . "We're indebted to the homeowners who graciously opened their homes for our garden tour fundraiser," said Micki Chaput, executive director of Senior Services of the Chathams.  "Whether it’s the use of an unusual plant species or unique color scheme, the tour offers a way to appreciate the natural beauty of the area and get ideas for your own backyard."

Fellowship Village, Interiors by Decorating Den and S. Johnson Landscape Management are sponsors of the event.

Advance tickets can be purchased at the Senior Center of the Chathams or online at www.chathamseniorcenter.org.  Tickets are also available the Library of the Chathams on Main St. and TM Ward Coffee, 7 South Passaic Ave..  The cost is $30 for the garden tour only or $40 for the garden tour plus a gourmet boxed lunch provided by Chef Loryn of Madison. The boxed lunch option is only available through these advance purchase sites.  Walk-ins will be accommodated on June 7th  at Colony Swim and Tennis Club, 55 School Ave, for $40.

Proceeds from the tour will be used to support the programs and services of Senior Services of the Chathams, a 22-year-old not for profit serving the needs of those 60 and older through a Senior Center, a bus service, and an information and referral service.  For more information, call 973 635-4565.
