SUMMIT, NJ - The music was pumping, decorations filled the room, and the dance floor was crowded at SAGE Eldercare’s second annual Senior Prom on June 5.  The seniors, many of whom are participants in SAGE’s Spend-A-Day Adult Day Health Center, got dressed up and spent the afternoon socializing, enjoying refreshments, and dancing to music performed by Michael Mannings.

“We had so much fun last year that we decided to start a new tradition in the spring for our senior adults,” said Deanna Butters, Director of Spend-A-Day. “This year’s prom was extra special because we had assistance from Goldman Sachs employees, who were at SAGE for their community service day.  Not only did they sponsor the event at SAGE, they also assisted with the decorations and joined in with the dancing and festivities.  They made this year’s event truly special for our seniors.”

SAGE’s Spend-A-Day program provides a day of social and stimulating activities for vulnerable or impaired adults in a medically supervised, home-away-from-home setting.  Daily activities are geared toward the seniors’ interests, and include music, art, a book club, exercise, discussion on current events, and field trips.

Licensed by the Department of Health and Senior Services as an adult medical day care, SPAD combines skilled services with extensive recreational, educational, and group programming to offer a viable option to in-home, nursing home, or assisted living care.  Program hours are Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm, with extended hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  For more information on Spend-A-Day, call SAGE at 908-598-5520, or visit www.sageeldercare.org.
