Sebastian & Li Are Recognized By USA Swimming As Scholastic All- Americans

On September 17th, USA Swimming officially announced its 2011-12 Scholastic All-American Award Recipients, and inducted Scarlet-Elite swimmers Ryan Sebastian, 16, of Summit and Michael Li, 18, of Whippany into this prestigious group of student athletes. (In order to qualify for this award, a swimmer must be a high school sophomore, junior, or senior earning a GPA of 3.5 or higher, and obtain a qualifying time under that of the “Junior National Bonus cutoff.”)

Sebastian, who is a junior attending Summit High School, qualified for this award in 8 different events: 200m (2:08.69) & 400m Individual Medley (4:32.84), 100m (1:08.31) & 200m Breaststroke (2:24.35), 100m (55.07) & 200m Butterfly (2:10.12) and 100m (59.86) & 200m Backstroke (2:09.79).

Li, who recently graduated from Delbarton in June and is now enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, qualified by swimming the 100 meter long course Breaststroke in a time of 1:08.73 at the Summer Sizzle.

Past Scarlet-Elite recipients of the Scholastic All-American Award include: Alex Morrison (Princeton University), Michael Strand (Princeton University) and Alex Mango (Columbia University).
