School Superintendent Provides Update on James Monroe Elementary

EDISON, NJ – In at letter to the parents and guardians of children that attend James Monroe School Elementary School, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Richard O’Malley provided a detailed update on the future of James Monroe Elementary School.

Since the fire that destroyed James Monroe Elementary School on March 22, students continued their education in classrooms provided by the Middlesex Community College. They were granted permission to remain at the college until the conclusion of this school year on June 20.

In addition to the classrooms provided my MCC, two classroom trailers will provide four new classrooms and are anticipated to be utilized by April 25. The classroom trailers will allow combined classes to separate.

In order to meet the 180 schoolday state mandate, students will have to make up two the two days they missed on March 24-25 because of the fire. The make-up days are scheduled for June 19-20 and both days will be a single session.

New bus stops have been established and go into effect on April 28. Students will start their day at the bus stop indicated on their bus pass to be sent home April 22. The bussing schedule will continue for the remainder of the school year.
