CALDWELL, NJ - The faith community of Saint Aloysius Parish in Caldwell continues their outreach programs during Lent. Each week-end special items are collected to share with our neighbors and those in need. We provide food, toiletries, cleaning items, breakfast foods, foods for special diets and a "baby shower." These collections are shared with Caldwell Food Pantry, individual families in West Essex, soup kitchens, homes for the elderly and the homeless.
Our Lenten practice includes a simple meal each week. On Friday evenings, a Lenten Soup Supper is served. Homemade soups are donated and bread is donated by our local supermarkets and eateries. Saint Aloysus Parish provides all the coffee, juice, paper goods, water, and cookies and whatever else is needed. Our guests are asked to make a free will offering which is again donated to those in need. It is a true community gathering.
Both the outreach each week-end and the soup suppers are coordinated by the Social Concerns Committee of the parish.
