Runnells Hospital Recognizes Sigel with Distinguished Volunteer Award

UNION COUNTY, NJ – A longtime New Providence doctor received a prestigious volunteer award at the Runnells Speciailized Hospital of Union County’s 51st annual awards celebration.
Arline Sigel, a retired toxicologist and longtime musical therapist, received a special award for her 45 years of volunteer service at the hospital.
Sigel, a music therapist for more than 60 years, regularly visits and entertains the hospital’s patients with one of her 13 instruments.
A total of 260 individuals and 62 community organizations received commendations for their volunteer efforts that saved the hospital more than $215,000.
Union County Freeholder Vernell Wright, who is also a longtime volunteer at the hospital, told the volunteers, “You do wonderful things every day,” and thanked them for all their efforts.
“Last year volunteers performed more than 13,400 hours of service and for that, we are all thankful,” Wright said in a press release.
The volunteers also fundraise to buy birthday presents and holiday gifts for the hospital’s patients.
Runnells Specialized Hospital of Union County is a unique, state-of-the-art facility that has been serving the people of Union County for more than 100 years.
