ROSELLE, NJ - Assemblywoman Annette Quijano, Union County Freeholder Sergio Granados, Mayor Jamel C. Holley and Roselle Borough Council members all helped kick off the “National Night Out” festivities on Tuesday evening at the Bud Simmons Park at 2nd Avenue and Pine Street in Roselle, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The community came out in big numbers to enjoy music, food, T-shirt painting, moon bounce for the kids and other crafts.

The Roselle Police department set up a game for the younger youth to win a special prize. Those kids went home with their very own fish bowl and new pet.

The introduction of National Night Out, “America’s Night Out Against Crime," in 1984 began an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, and neighbors coming together to send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. Homeowners are encouraged to keep their front porch lights on.
