ROSELAND, NJ - The Roseland Book Club will be meeting at the Roseland Free Public Library on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 7pm to discuss Jess Walter's “The Financial Lives of the Poets.”

The Book Club put out a statement, “In this satirical novel, middle-aged Matt Prior is tormented by unemployment, escalating debt, imminent foreclosure, estrangement from his spouse, and caring for his senile father. A chance encounter with hoodlums on a late-night run to a 7-11 makes Matt turn to drug dealing in a desperate attempt to reclaim his life as he knew it. Read and find out what happens! According to his website, Walter is a former National Book Award finalist and winner of the Edgar Allan Poe Award, He is the author of six novels and one nonfiction book. His 2009 novel, “The Financial Lives of the Poets,” was Time Magazine's number two novel of the year.
