WEST ORANGE, NJ - To The Residents of West Orange:  What are a Mayor’s responsibilities?

A Mayor must provide effective leadership and efficient basic services to the residents of his town.

A progressive town offers its residents:

1-      Public Safety
2-      Accessibility to high quality Education
3-      A town that is clean and sanitary
4-      A town with reasonable property taxes

When we analyze the past 20 years of this administration, mostly including the same group of people, it is evident that they failed to appropriately provide on each of these services .

1-      Crime has doubled in West Orange.
2-      Some areas in our town are full of litter and some of the sidewalks are broken.
3-      62% of our tax money goes to the school system and their rank is low in the State .
4-      Taxes have been on the rise to a level that is unsustainable. This year, even our sewer went from $185.00 to $ 250.00 dollars per household. Why? Did they fix or improve anything? NO. The result is that many families, unfortunately, decided to leave West Orange .

It is clear that the residents of West Orange want and are in need of new leadership. People who are not recycled politicians, which are moved from one position to another after failing in their previous post.

True leadership is ability to represent everyone. Within such a diverse town as West Orange, there is a need for someone who will take into account the concerns of all subgroups, who can build bridges within our communities, and who will ensure collaboration among the Mayor, Council and the Board of Education .

This is why I am running for Mayor. ’m not a professional politician. My experience managing hundreds of employees within Morris and Essex County’s health care facilities, as well as running a successful business of my own, makes me the best candidate to direct this town in a better direction .

I will make a property tax reform a priority. I will collaborate with business owners to make West Orange more business friendly and work relentlessly to stop the construction of more than 600 apartments in a high traffic area whose schools are already overcrowded. The current Administration not only endorsed this construction but provided them a tax break for the next thirty years, while our taxes get increased yearly.

I am Rodolfo Rodriguez,an independent candidate for Mayor of the town of West Orange .

I have no commitments with anyone. When I become Mayor, things will change. I will bring back our police force, which used to be 122 officers and is now around 90 officers, in order to decrease crime. I will get involved with our school system to ensure that we strive for the same goal. I will do what is necessary to stabilize our taxes and bring back our glorious West Orange.
