Robbery Attempt of Cab Driver Fails on Tuesday

PATERSON, NJ - An attempted armed robbery of a female cab driver failed late Tuesday afternoon in Paterson.
Shortly before 6 p.m., a passenger who was picked up at the intersection of Summer and Harrison streets requested that the driver take him to a destination on River Street. The passenger, described by Paterson police as a heavy-set 5-foot-6 black male, grabbed the driver from behind when the car was on Fulton Street and demanded she turn over her money and possessions.
The driver reportedly fought back and the suspect jumped out of the vehicle and fled without stealing anything.
