CHATHAM BOROUGH, NJ - Chatham Borough Republican Councilmen Leonard Resto and John Holman were both returned for a second term to their council seats with Resto, the top vote-getter, garnering 2,641 votes and Holman capturing 2,621. Newcomer, Democrat Michael Yodice, 23, received 1,771 votes.

When election results rolled in at borough hall on Tuesday night, Resto and Holman voiced their concerns about the borough’s residents in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy rather than their election victory.

Holman spoke about another section of the borough that received power back today. Resto talked about the meals that community volunteers have been serving at the firehouse to out-of-state utility workers who are working in the borough.

Turning to their intentions for their next term, Holman said he would continue to make shared services a priority.  While the borough has formed several partnerships with other communities, such as its court system, Holman plans to hold discussions with Freeholders and Assemblymen to see where more shared services can be found. Resto will continue to push for green initiatives that includes working on the trails along the Passaic River and finding a balanced tree policy.  Both councilmen said that the borough’s infrastructure was also on their radar.

Resto and Holman expressed their admiration for Michael Yodice, 23, who ran for office for the first time. They commented that they hope Yodice would continue to be involved in the borough.
