Resident Confronted by Man With Knife

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ— Police are investigating a scuffle between a South Orange resident and another individual who pulled a knife. The resident told police he had a previous disagreement with his attacker. The assault occurred at 5 p.m. on Feb. 13 on Ward Place.

Two girls who attend the Clark Street School got into a fight. There were no injuries. School administrators are investigating the Feb. 14 incident.

A Turrell Avenue resident reported that a package was stolen from her front porch. She left the item, containing a child’s watch, to be picked up by UPS. The theft occurred Feb. 13 between 9:45 a.m. and 5 p.m.

A Staten Island, N.Y., resident Joseph Thibodeau, 20, was arrested and charged with underage possession when he left University Liquors on South Orange Avenue after purchasing alcohol. Officers assigned to a detail targeting under patrons made the arrest at 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 16.
- Gary McArdle, a 23-year-old New Brunswick resident, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Maplewood on Feb.14 during an unrelated investigation.
