SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – Local philanthropy Rent Party hosted their last regularly scheduled show at the South Orange Elks Lodge on Friday night and will be moving to a larger venue, The Woodland (formerly the Women’s Club), in the fall as well as throwing their first outdoor festival. Rent Party raises money to fight hunger in the community and the shows they organize are increasing in popularity, with more and more people coming out for good music and a good cause.
“We are genuinely grateful for the five years we have spent here at the South Orange Elks,” said Rent Party founder Chris Dickson. “We walked in here in August of 2009 with nothing but a dream and these guys took a chance on us. It has been a win-win relationship from the start. We are proud of what we have accomplished here and have nothing but gratitude for the South Orange Elks.” The vegetable garden at the Elks will continue to provide fresh produce for the local food pantries.
Next up for Rent Party is a “Road Show” at the Springfield Elks Lodge on June 27 for the last show of the season.
The first show next fall will take place outdoors at Maplecrest Park on Saturday, September 6.
“This will be an all-day music festival, featuring original music for original people,” Dickson said.
The first show at The Woodland will take place Friday, November 14.
“The Township is excited for us to help them reintroduce that space to the public,” he said. “They are looking forward to helping us do the work that we do and we look forward to the partnership.”
