WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Relay For Life of West Orange will be holding a Kick-Off Party for the annual American Cancer Society fundraiser on Wednesday, Feb. 27 starting at 7 p.m. at SuzyQue’s BBQ & Bar, 34 South Valley Road, West Orange.

The Relay For Life is the signature event of the American Cancer Society. According to the official American Cancer Society website www.cancer.org the Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer; remember loved ones lost; and fight back against the disease.

At Relay events, teams of family and friends of survivors as well as volunteers and supporters from the community camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event.Because cancer never sleeps, Relay For Life events are overnight events up to 24 hours in length.

”Each lap brings us closer to a world with less cancer and a world with more birthdays,” said Julianne Russell, the American Cancer Society Manager of Special Events, Eastern Division, said. “Please join us for food, fun and good company as we officially Kick-Off the 2013 Relay For Life of West Orange. We are celebrating a world with less cancer and more birthdays.”
