With the current version of the GED test set to expire at the end of 2013, Literacy Volunteers of Union County urges adult students who have already taken the test to sign up now for the nonprofit group’s free classes and get the help needed to pass the test.
The current version of the GED test will be replaced with the new 2014 GED test on Jan. 2, 2014.
Those who have taken the 2002 Series GED test, but not passed all five parts, have until the end of 2013 to pass or they will need to start over again in 2014 with the new GED test in order to receive their high school credential.
“The GED test opens doors to college, better jobs, and the satisfaction of earning a high school credential,” said Harrison. We want to be sure that everyone is aware of this deadline. GED test-takers must act now to finish and pass before the current test expires.”
Literacy Volunteers of Union County will offer a 14-week GED Test Prep Class at the Elizabeth Public Library, 11 South Broad St, Elizabeth beginning Monday, Sept. 23 and end on Monday, Dec. 23. The classes will meet Mondays and Thursdays, from 10 a.m. to noon.
A 14-week program will also be held in the evenings at the Roselle Fire Department, 725 Chestnut St., Roselle beginning on Monday, Sept. 23 and end on Monday, Dec. 23. The classes will meet Mondays and Wednesdays, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Advance registration for these classes is required.
