It’s that time of year again! The students of Durban Avenue Elementary School put their reading hats on and celebrated Read Across America with the help of some friends from the Hopatcong Middle School. Each class was greeted with friendly smiles and books in hand to read some short stories in honor of the nationally recognized Read Across America Day which promoted reading, particularly for children and young adults.

Many schools, libraries, and community centers across the United States participated in the day by bringing people together to take part in reading books.

It our belief here at Durban Avenue Elementary School, and throughout the Hopatcong School District, that everyone benefits when sharing and engaging in reading, whether it be through a fairytale, a mystery, a nonfiction story, or even a joke book!

Durban Avenue Elementary School hopes you continue to celebrate Read Across America by reading with a friend, a parent, or even by yourself! Happy Reading!
