Raritan Renews Nixle Alert System

RARITAN, NJ - Raritan Borough approved several purchase orders at its July 8 council meeting, including a plan to renew its use of the Nixle Alert System for emergencies.

The cost of renewing the alert system will be $1,590.

Raritan Borough Police Chief Kenneth McCormick said the borough has been using the Nixle Alert System since 2008. It allows the borough to send out emergency messages by phone or email to all those who have registered for the alerts on the borough’s website.

Registering for the alerts is free.

In addition, the borough approved annual hose testing for the fire department for $1,905.

Finally, the borough approved the purchase of additional cameras for the Recreation Department’s security system for $1,782. The additional cameras will be placed at Frelinghuysen Park.
