RANDOLPH, NJ- Randolph girls basketball coach Kristin Torres recently achieved a milestone victory in her young coaching career.  In the quarterfinals game of the Morris County Tournament, the Rams victory over Morristown Beard was the 100th win of her career.  Coach Torres has been leading the girls team for six years, and has seen her teams thrive in her short time at the helm for Randolph.

Torres was focusing on preparing her team for the County and State Tourneys, and didn’t realize she was on the doorstep of the achievement.  She commented, “The Milestone is nice, to be honest I didn’t know how close I was.”

However, someone else close to Torres was paying attention.  Coach Torres explained further, “My husband Peter, who is also my assistant, knew and he, and along with our booster club presented me with a nice cake and bouquet of flowers after the win.”

In the game, the Rams hustled and played with an intensity that made their coach proud, especially on the defensive side of the court.  Their press was effective in forcing turnovers and leading to easy buckets to help secure the win.

On the game, Torres said, “The win was more important, but I have to say it was nice to get the 100th win on a big game in the Morris County tournament.”

Coach Torres was quick to point out that a coach’s success also hinges on the players who suit up for the games and practices.  She acknowledged her players, stating “The milestone never would have been achieved without the hard work from all the girls who I have had the privilege to coach these past six years.”

Coach Torres leads her team into the state playoffs as a #4 seed, where they hope to make some noise to finish off a successful season.  Their first round game is Tuesday March 4 at 7PM, home against Bellville.
