PATERSON, NJ - The Paterson Great Falls will receive a rare makeover on Thursday, courtesy of the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission.

The Passaic River, which feeds the iconic waterfall, will be diverted to a hydroelectric plant on Thursday to allow the PVSC and local volunteers to clean behind the Paterson Great Falls for the only time this year.

The event is held in conjunction with the National Park Service, the New Jersey Community Development Coporation, Eagle Creek Renewable Energy and the City of Paterson.

Volunteer groups will be utilized to assist the PVSC in the restoration project.  Members of the PVSC River Restoration Program Staff, Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park, Eagle Creek Renewable Energy, New Jersey Community Development Corporation, Great Falls Neighborhood Corporation, Great Youth Corps and the Great Falls Teen Center will all be on hand to clean up the waterfall.

The event will run from 10:30 a.m. until noon.
