PATERSON, NJ – City officials are weighing a proposal to convert a warehouse at 44 Beech Street into 249 apartments and a Laundromat with 65 washing machines.
The developer, identified in municipal records as 44 Beech Street LLC, is seeking a state environmental permit to connect into the municipal sewer system.
The city council on Tuesday is scheduled to vote whether to endorse the developer’s application with the New Jersey Deaprtment of Environmental Protection.
Councilman Julio Tavarez, who represents the 5th Ward where the project would be located, said he needed more details about the project before voting on it.
“I want to know what kind of housing their talking about,’’ said Tavarez. “Is it low income or what? I need more information to know if this is something we want in our area or not.’’
