The Newton Police Department is proud to participate in Project Medicine Drop, joining with other law enforcement agencies in a statewide initiative from the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs.  The medication drop box is now available in the lobby at Police Headquarters located at 39 Trinity Street Newton NJ.  The box will allow members of the public to safely and securely dispose of unused and/or expired medications anonymously, sevens days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.

Recognizing the dangers of prescription drug abuse, the Department will also continue to work with the Center for Prevention and Counseling who coordinates the countywide prescription drug collection day slated to be held on Saturday September 29, 2012 from 10 AM- 2 PM at locations throughout Sussex County.  On 9/29, Newton Police Officers will be at Newton Shoprite collecting medications.  For other locations visit:  http://www.centerforprevention.org/pdf-files/2012-rx-disposal-sept-nov.pdf
