The Rotary Club of Madison in collaboration with Drew University is pleased to announce “An Evening with Dr. Frank Newport, Editor-in-Chief and President of the Gallup Poll.”  Dr.  Newport will be discussing his latest book:  “God is Alive and Well:  The Future of Religion in America.”  The event will take place on Wednesday, February 27 at 8:00 p.m. at the Dorothy Young Center for the Arts Concert Hall.

The book is based on more than a million interviews Gallup has conducted since 2008. Dr. Newport analyzes this unparalleled and unprecedented database of information about Americans and their religions…revealing just how powerfully intertwined religion is with every aspect of society.  Among the topics covered are the relationships between emotional and physical health and involvement in religious activities across American society.

The Gallup Poll has been monitoring public opinion continuously since 1935 and now conducts over 350,000 interviews with Americans on a daily basis each year, as well as interviews in over 150 countries worldwide.   Dr. Newport is also the author of several books, including “Listen Winning the White House 2008: The Gallup Poll, Public Opinion, and the Presidency” (2009);  “Polling Matters—Why Leaders Must Listen to the Wisdom of the People” (2004); and co-author with Stuart Rothenberg of “The Evangelical Voter”.

His articles and op-ed pieces have appeared in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and many other publications. During the last election cycle, he appeared weekly on CNN and NBC’s “Today Show”.  Dr. Newport lives in Pennington, NJ with his wife Kim.  They have four grown children.

Tickets ($20) may be purchased through any Madison Rotarian, or by calling the Shakespeare Theatre Box Office at 973-408-3917.  For further information:   www.madisonrotarynj.org
