PATERSON, NJ - A 52-year-old woman was held up at gunpoint in the 5th Ward Sunday evening, one of two robberies from the day that police are investigating.
Police said the woman was walking near the corner of 17th and Madison avenues at about 8 pm when three men approached her, including one with a gun. They took her cash an cell phone and ran off, police said.
In a separate incident five hours earlier, two men in hoodies pulled guns on a 45 year-old man after he parked his car at 3 pm on Sunday near 60 Van Houten Street, the headquarters of the Paterson Housing Authority. At first, the men approached and simply asked for a cigarette, police said. But then they drew their weapons and demanded his money, according to authorities.
When the victim said he had nothing on him, the two men ran off, according to police.
