Police Identify Man Shot Outside Liquid Assets Strip Club as Plainfield Resident

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - The South Plainfield Police Department is continuing to investigate a shooting that took place outside the Liquid Assets strip club on Sunday morning. The Police Department is reporting the victim is a 24 year-old Plainfield resident. The victim was shot in the back and is listed in stable condition at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
Sunday morning’s shooting took place a little before 2 a.m. Police have not identified any motives in the shooting and have asked that anyone with any knowledge to contact Sergeant Dan Hoppe or Detective Daryl Strother at (908) 226-7660.
The borough has been in an ongoing dispute with the Liquid Assets strip club and its operations. South Plainfield Mayor Matthew P. Anesh said of the shooting, “We have had issues with this place in the past. We have suspended their license, and we have voted to not renew their license to operate the past two years. The State of New Jersey has given them a stay, but we are not done fighting this, and this incident shows we are not done fighting for good reason. We are applying to the state to lift the stay due to this latest incident.”
