Police Bust 4th Ward Drug Dealer

PATERSON, NJ - Some businessmen of the street specialize in selling just one product. But 26-year-old Lamar Booker believed in diversification, according to city police. Authorities say the resident of Lafayette Street was selling heroin, crack, powder cocaine and marijuana when he was arrested Friday evening near the corner of 12th Avenue and E. 22 Street.

The bust was made at about 6:30 pm and followed an investigation by Det. Mario Formentin that lasted just a few days, said Capt. Troy Oswald, head of the city's narcotics squad. Police say they watched two people buy marijuana from Booker and arrested them a short distance away from the area. Then authorities moved in arrested the alleged dealer himself.

Booker had an inventory of almost $8,000 worth of drugs, according to police.  He was charged with having 456 $10 bags of crack, 277 glassine packets of heroin, 40 bags of marijuana and 22 baggies of cocaine, according to Oswald. He faces separate charges of possession, possession with intent to distribute and possession with intent to distribute different 1,000 feet of a school for each of the different drugs, police said.

Arrested and charged with buying three $10 bags of marijuana from Booker in separate deals were 26-year-old Robert Heley of 17th Avenue and 34-year-old Kunta Owens of N. 13th Place in Prospect Park, police said.
