Police Arrest Two on Drunk Driving Charges

On 4/6/2012 approximately 11:09 a.m. Patrolman Luis Goncalves arrested 26 year old Caitlin Monaghan of Basking Ridge N.J. He charged her with driving under the influence. Ptl. Goncalves was called to the area of 24 North Street where he stopped Monaghan. After a field interview he determined that Monaghan was operating her vehicle under the influence of alcohol. She was taken to headquarters for processing. After processing she was released to a friend pending a mandatory court appearance.
On 4/6/2012 at approximately 4:04 a.m. Patrolman Sean McCarthy arrested 32 year old Jabari Allen of Madison N.J. He charged him with driving under the influence. Ptl. McCarthy was called to the Stop and Shop parking lot to investigate a vehicle being driven on a flat tire. He stopped Allen and after a field interview he determined that he was operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was taken to headquarters for processing , during process a computer check was ran on his name and Ptl. McCarthy was alerted that there was an active criminal arrest warrant for failure to appear in Essex County Superior Court. After processing he was released to the custody of the Essex County Sheriff’s Department, pending a mandatory court appearance.
Police are investigating 9 Burglaries and Thefts from UNLOKCED motor vehicles parked in residential neighborhoods occurring 4/7/2012 . Items stolen included, cash, pocketbooks, GPS units, lap tops , cell phones, and personal items. Neighborhood areas where the thefts occurred are Alma Avenue, Orchard Street, Crestwood Drive , Woodside Road, and Valley Road. Detective Kosakowski is conducting an investigation . Detective Lt. Jerry Mantone is requesting that residents lock their vehicles and garage doors and report any suspicious vehicles, person or persons, or noises during the night hours to our Police Desk at 973-593-3000 or 911. The Madison Police Department, Fire Department, and Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to approximately 9 medical emergencies.
Madison Police Department investigated 9 motor vehicle crashes during the week.
All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
