Police Arrest Man in 3rd Ward Robbery

PATERSON, NJ - A 25-year-old city man was arrested Tuesday morning and charged with attempted robbery that targeted a 58-year-old woman was the victim, police said.

Joseph Gray, of 4th Avenue, and two other suspects approached the victim at about 10:30 am at the corner of 4th Avenue and E. 18th Street, police said. Gray started talking to the woman to district her, while one of the men grabbed her purse and the other snatched her chain, police said.

The three of them then ran off, police said. But Gray didn't go very far. He went inside a nearby home on 4th Avenue, police said. Someone spotted him going inside and alerted the officers who responded to the scene, according to authorities.

Gray was apprehended at the apartment, police said. The other two suspects remain at large.
