Police Activity In Berkeley Heights

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - On Monday, December 23, 2013, at 12:58 a.m., Ptl. Michael Gallaro arrested Joseph Ziomek Jr., 25, of Berkeley Heights. Ziomek was the operator of a 2002 Jaguar and was observed operating the vehicle on Lancelot Drive off of Springfield Avenue. A subsequent motor vehicle stop and investigation revealed Ziomek to be under the influence of alcohol. He was brought to police headquarters, processed and charged with driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle with an open container of an alcoholic beverage. Ziomek was given a date to appear in Berkeley Heights Municipal Court and released into the custody of a family member.
On Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at 2:56 pm, Ptl. Donato Minicozzi investigated a reported theft at Lifetime Fitness, 25 Connell Dr. The victim reported that his jacket, valued at $140, was stolen from the locker room area after hanging it in a common area. When he returned from his workout, the jacket was gone. The matter has been referred to the Investigations Division.
On Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014, Sgt. Ed Ammerlaan investigated a reported burglary at an Emerson Lane address. The victims reported leaving the residence a in the early afternoon and returning several hours later, at which point it was determined that the residence had been entered while they were out. Approximately $3,000 cash was missing from the residence. Detectives processed the scene and the matter is currently under investigation.
On Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014 at 4:10 p.m., Ptl. Frank Mea arrested Erin D. Lundstrom, 35, of Orange. Lundstrom was operator of a 1996 Toyota that had been become disabled on Diamond Hill Road. Further investigation revealed that Lundstrom had a suspended driver’s license and several warrants for her arrest totaling $2,986 out of New Providence, Pequannock and West Orange. Lundstrom was brought to police headquarters, processed and charged with driving while suspended, no liability insurance and improper display of license plates. Lundstrom was then released into the custody of the Pequannock Police Department.
