PLAINFIELD, NJ - The PMUA and Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders joined forces to implement art contests designed to inspire Plainfield area youth to take care of the environment.
Coinciding with Earth Week last spring, students were asked to write a poem or an essay, or draw a poster addressing how to make Plainfield a “greener” community. During the summer, children who attended Plainfield summer camps participated in an art contest, “Trash to Treasure,” where they were asked to create a “masterpiece” using only recyclable materials.
Between the two contests, the PMUA and Freeholders awarded 20 children with certificates and prizes.
