Kim is a graduate of the Juilliard School where she studied with Professor Harvey Shapiro and the New York Philharmonic’s principal cellist, Carter Brey. Aftermaking her debut at age 1eleven, performing Saint Saens Concerto, she was accepted into the studio of Ronald Leonard which then led her to a PBS broadcast for the “Young Musicians Foundation.” Post-graduate studies included Maestro Mstislav Rostropovich, who then invited Ms. Kim to Germany to further her studies with Professor David Geringas and Troels Svane. Professional engagements in Europe have included performances of both Haydn Concertos as well as solo recitals in Copenhagen, Munich, and Florence.
 
Currently Ms. Kim resides in New York City where she is a versatile freelance artist. Orchestral and chamber music performances include the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, the American Ballet Theatre, and the Metro Chamber Orchestra, where she is principal cello. In demand as a Broadway musician, Ms. Kim has played several Tony Award winning productions including American Idiot, Next to Normal, Addams Family, Mary Poppins, Phantom of the Opera, South Pacific, Young Frankenstein, Bombay Dreams, and Ragtime. In 2008, Ms. Kim was honored with a Grammy nomination for her work with the crossover band The East Village Opera Company.
 
In addition, Ms. Kim has worked and played with several pop artists including David Foster, Mary J. Blige, Adele, Sheryl Crow, Rod Stewart, Josh Groban, Il Divo, as well as Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli, and David Garrett.
