SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ - At its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, March 10, the Scotch Plains Planning Board discussed the upcoming Scotch Plains Master Plan.

Last updated in 2001, the plan will guide the appropriate use of lands within the township. Included in this report are community facilities, recreation, and housing elements with the consideration of existing ordinances.

According to Joseph E. Doyle, Master Plan Subcommittee Chairman, a re-examination report, which investigates zoning changes, development trends, demographics and long-range forecasts, was last adopted in 2007. The township is required to issue a new re-examination report every 10 years to confirm the functional soundness of the existing plan.

The Master Plan subcommittee will meet to establish and prioritize time frames for each element in the plan. Public input will be considered.

The next subcommittee meeting has yet to be determined, but will happen before April, according to Doyle.
