Pedestrian Hit by Car in Westfield was Crossing Illegally

WESTFIELD, NJ—The male pedestrian who was taken to the hospital Feb. 27 after he was struck by a car was walking approximately four feet outside of the crosswalk, according to Captain Scott Rodger of the Westfield Police.
The man was attempting to cross the intersection of Central Avenue and Cacciola Place when he was struck by a Nissan station wagon at approximately 11:10 a.m. He was taken to University Hospital for evaluation. According to an earlier communication with Westfield Police Chief David Wayman, his injuries are non-life-threatening.
No summons has been issued at this time, according to Rodger.
