Wednesday, March 20, 2013 • 12:00am

The Peace & Justice Committee of Holy Trinity and St. Helen’s parishes will hold a forum on “Guns in a Civil Society” in the Holy Trinity ParishCenter at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, March 20.

Our speakers at the forum are the Rev. Robert Moore and attorney Thomas Jardim.  Rev. Moore, Executive Director of the Coalition for Peace Action, will speak about the need for better defining the terms of gun ownership in the United States and the steps necessary at the state and federal levels to accomplish that goal.  Thomas Jardim, a New Jersey attorney and former Westfield mayor, will speak about the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and court interpretations of the amendment.  He will describe how the constitution affects efforts to regulate gun ownership.  A “Q&A” session will follow their presentations as well as a discussion of possible actions that the committee can take to advocate for changes in the law.  Please note that this is a forum and not a debate.  We welcome a thoughtful exchange of ideas that respects the views of all who attend.
