Paterson's Mites Roll to Four Straight Wins

PATERSON, NJ - After a season-opening loss to Newark, Paterson's Mitey Mites Pop Warner football team has rolled to four straight victories, including a 35-0 romp over the Bergen County Knights on Sunday in Hackensack.
Marques Harris scored two touchdowns for the Paterson squad, while the other touchdowns came from Jarvarn "CJ" Miller, Yasim Wilder and Elijah Hussey.
"These kids have really gelled together and at the right time,'' said Head Coach Ali Simpson
The team is for players ages 7-9. Its defense is lead by Ja'naz Williams and Jarell Fornety. Other defensive stand-outs are Norbal Vazquez, Jarell Fortney, Avery Moses, Joey Barrise Jr., Cleveland Allen Jr., Diallo Miller and Keanna Clarke, who is the only girl on the team. Moses leads the team in tackles.
The Mites face a big test in their next game against East Orange. That's Sun., Sept. 30 at 9:30 am at the Paterson catholic field on 11th Avenue. The assistant coaches are Sylvester Dixon, Kieth Blakley and Rosetta Simpson.
